NEVER BE SOLO (NBS) IS A FOUNDATION DEDICATED TO THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF STEPHANO P. GONZALES. ON OCTOBER 13, 2013 Stephano died by suicide at the young age of 25 years old. STEPHANO WAS AN AMAZING, WARM-HEARTED, AND TALENTED SOUL WHO TOUCHED EVERYONE he came across with his charismatic personality. AT THE AGE OF 21 YEARS OLD HE ADOPTED THE NICKNAME SOLO, WHICH ALL HIS PEERS soon KNEW HIM BY. HOWEVER, NOT UNTIL 3 DAYS AFTER HIS DEATH DID HIS FAMILY BECOME AWARE OF THE TRUE MEANING BEHIND HIS NICKNAME, SOLO. STEPHANO HAD BEEN LIVING HIS LIFE FEELING LIKE HE WAS ALONE DESPITE all OF the PEOPLE THAT LOVED HIM DEARLY and unconditionally. HE BEGAN AN INTERNAL struggle, THAT AT TIMES HE SHOWED AND SPOKE ABOUT BUT NO one UNDERSTOOD OR COULD COMPREHEND WHAT Stephano was truly battling.

THROUGH THE PAINFUL GRIEVING PROCESS STEPHANO’S MOTHER, TWO SISTERS, AND YOUNGER BROTHER FORMED NEVER BE SOLO. NBS is a 501C3 Foundation THAT strives to HELP STOP THE STIGMA BEHIND mental illness and SUICIDE, by BRINGing AWARENESS TO THOSE WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM DEPRESSION & MENTAL ILLNESS and helping loved ones know the signs before it’s too late. By Talking about Stephano and his story, we are spreading awareness, so we can help Save a life.

ONE MONTH AFTER STEPHANO “SOLO” GONZALES PASSED HIS ELDEST SISTER, Nikia, STARTED THROWING NEVER BE SOLO POTLUCKS. STEPHANO STRIVED FOR FAMILY TRADITION BUT PART OF HIS LONELINESS AND SADNESS CAME FROM NOT BEING ABLE TO GET EVERYONE TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE LOVE AND LIFE. The purpose of the potlucks was to bring family, friends, and strangers together to spread awareness. While Potlucks will always be a staple for NBS, we are also committed to making a difference in schools by hosting events to bring awareness to middle and high school students. You may find Never Be Solo hosting a popup at a festival or listen to our founder, Nikia Gonzales on a podcast or Facebook live.

Stephano left his family with a beautiful and powerful message, “Remember to Love Yourself First.” We will continue to spread these words by hosting events, and increasing our presence in the community.

We never experienced anything like this in our lifetime!!! Despite our pain and grief we knew that we needed to spread awareness about Suicide Prevention. 3 days after my brothers death I woke up from a dream where my brother Stephano told me to start a foundation and to name it Never Be Solo. My family and friends disagreed with the name Never Be Solo because they couldnt understand the depth behind the meaning. Now here we are 10 years later with the proof that this name and message that came from a dream has had such grand impact on so many lives!!! It’s the last day of 2022. I know I’ve had some ups and some downs this year and even though those down were extremely hard I’ve decided to remind myself of all the love and support I’ve received from all of my family, friends and social medial family over the year!! This page was created back in 2013 and never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would meet so many amazing people that would share their personal stories with me. I appreciate being trusted by you. I’m so happy that we have been able to share our story to break the mental health stigma. I thank you all for sharing our post to also help break the stigma. With the recent passing of my Auntie Faith it made us all realize more than ever that life is on borrowed time. She was healthy and thriving and unfortunately passed away suddenly a few days ago by having a stroke. The last few months I have loss several people and just wish I had one more time to tell them how much I truly love them. Not everyone in this video has died by suicide but all of them have suddenly died without warning and it’s been so so painful. During this holiday season please reach out to the people you love because you just never know if it’s gonna be the last time you will see them! With that said I LOVE YOU ALL!!! This is a tribute to my brother Stephano, My brother Jordan, my Auntie Faith, my Nana Virdia, my Nana Ollie, my Father Parky, my cousin Mindy, my cousin Alexa and, my friend Pancho!!! May they all rest in eternal peace. We are so thankful to have had them in our lives!
